Care work proved to be the perfect career choice for a Norfolk woman who has recently celebrated ten years with Extra Hands. Although she briefly tried her hand at labouring and working as a chef, Donna Eastaugh found her true calling when she took up care work, and has now clocked up 25 years in the industry – with over a decade at the Norfolk home-care provider.

A life-long carer has taken up a new role at the Norfolk home-care company she first joined as a school leaver. Dana Frost had a brief break from working at family-run Extra Hands before returning three years ago. Earlier this year she moved to the Rapid Response Team at the company’s Heacham Branch, working alongside colleagues Nina Stephen and Tamara Proctor to provide support for service-users and carers alike. A carer with more than 30 years’ experience in the industry has put retirement on hold to continue in the job she loves. Sue Barnard, who works at family run Norfolk care provider Extra Hands, was previously employed by Age Concern, and has also worked at a variety of residential care homes over the past three decades. Ball gowns, black ties and a touch of glamour were all on display as Springwood High School leavers enjoyed their Prom Night at a landmark hotel. The jubilant A Level students marked their successes with a special evening at the Duke’s §Head in King’s Lynn and the class of 23 came together for one final time before dispersing to different universities, apprenticeships or careers. After 15 years at a cleaning company, an area manager decided it was time for a fresh start and applied for a job at a Norfolk care firm where, five years on, she feels she has found her calling. A fifth of all English results (20 per cent) at the Didcot school were graded between 9 and 7, along with over a quarter (27 per cent) of all Biology grades. Students at Hunstanton's Smithdon High School have been celebrating after receiving record GCSE results this year. The school, which is a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, received its best ever exam results, with the Class of 2023 achieving grades almost 10 per cent above the 2019 results. |
