There were Christmas biscuits, decorations, party games and even some elves when Gaywood Primary School celebrated the festive season. Children at the school, which is a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, swapped their uniforms for Christmas jumpers and spent the last day of term on Friday enjoying a host of Winter and Christmas-themed activities.

Caring Smithdon students celebrated the end of term on Friday by raising over £330 for two children’s charities. Christmas Jumper Day at the Hunstanton high school, a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, saw students and staff members don an array of festive outfits and costumes, some of which had been customised by the wearers. Springwood students were 'Walking In The Air' after receiving standing ovations to their live orchestral performances of The Snowman on Saturday Musicians at the King's Lynn high school, which is a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, performed the soundtrack to the classic animation live in the school’s Peter Hopkin’s Hall in what was thought to be a first for West Norfolk. Young people who have suffered bereavement are fundraising this Christmas to help others in Norfolk who have lost loved ones. The students from St Clement’s High School met through the school’s Bereavement Group, and decided to run a Christmas card competition to raise money for Nelson’s Journey, a local charity that supports young people who have lost someone close to them. A Norfolk carer once told colleagues she wasn’t returning - but two decades later she is celebrating an impressive milestone at an award-winning home care company. Nina Stephen will mark 20 years at family-run Extra Hands home care in January, and said: “After my first week in the role, which was with a different company, I really wasn’t staying! – and that was 23 years ago! Pupils at a West Norfolk school take pride in their work, enjoy attending and appreciate the high-quality care and support they receive from staff, says a recent Ofsted report. Springwood High School has retained its Good status and inspectors highlighted the fact pupils are “happy and safe” and value the wide range of subjects they can choose alongside a variety of extra-curricular activities on offer. The former number one player came to school as part of a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Youth Tennis programme, an innovative scheme aimed at children aged from four to 18. It is designed to help more younger players enjoy the benefits of their sport and stay with tennis whatever their age, gender, ability, disability or background. A total of 286 children from Years 1 to 6 are taking part. A King’s Lynn school’s rewilding initiative got off to a great start when staff, parents and student volunteers joined forces to plant more than 400 saplings. Springwood High School’s ‘Big Dig’ saw the volunteers plant a mix of hazel, blackthorn, privet, holly and dogwood, all donated by the Woodland Trust, along a section of the school’s boundary fence line. |
