The head of a Northumberland primary said the ‘soul’ of her school had returned when it held its first community event since the ending of Covid restrictions. St Bede’s Catholic Primary School, in Bedlington, opened its doors to the public for the first time since the start of the pandemic when it held its Autumn Fayre. The school run at The Vale Primary School in Epsom is set to become safer, thanks to a £2,000 road safety grant from vehicle manufacturer Toyota. The primary school, which is a member of GLF Schools, received the grant from the Toyota Fund for a Better Tomorrow. Children at St Paul’s Catholic Primary School in Alnwick enjoyed an out of this world experience when they had the chance to meet a real astronaut. NASA’s Susan Kilrain was guest of honour at the school where she spoke about her stellar career, and answered questions from an enthralled audience on everything from space food to her family. Members of the West Norfolk Academies Trust will be heading to the House of Lords for a very special awards ceremony. The trust has been named as a finalist in the National School Awards which is staging the event at the Palace of Westminster on December 1, when the winning trusts will be announced. A Norfolk carer has marked two impressive milestones recently, celebrating her half-century and marking 15 years of working at award-winning home care company Extra Hands. Celebration cake was very much the order of the day at a Horsham school which has become a member of one of the UK’s largest multi academy trusts. Greenway Junior School, Horsham, is the 42nd member of GLF Schools which was formed in Surrey ten years ago and has grown to include more than 2,000 staff and 17,000 children across its member schools. A Fenland student successfully answered the billionth question on a web-based education resource and was presented with a laptop to mark the milestone. Thomas Clarkson Academy, Wisbech, is also set to benefit as William Horspool, in Year 11, also won a school prize alongside his own Asus VivoBook and Beats headphones by correctly answering a science question on EduCake. |
