Audiences have been blown away by the standard of performances at Springwood High School this week.
Beauty and the Beast was the school’s musical and it opened on Tuesday (27) in the Peter Hopkins Hall at the School, a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust. It was ‘Legs Eleven’ for the Year 11 students at a Lynn school, when they held a bingo evening to raise money for their end-of-year Prom.
Work to refurbish a West Norfolk drama studio will see audiences sitting very comfortably long into the future.
The Springwood High School studio now boasts retractable seating, and among the first people to benefit were those who watched a play based on the A Level set text of Live Like Pigs, by John Arden. Youngsters at a West Norfolk school tested their speed and agility when they took part in a Speed Stacking challenge.
The mixed group of children from Years 1 and 6 at West Lynn Primary School honed their skills at the event, which was organised by Alive Lynnsport and took place at the sports centre in King’s Lynn. Disney favourites will be on stage with a wealth of popular songs for Springwood High School’s musical.
Students will present the show - Beauty and the Beast Jr - on stage in the Peter Hopkins Hall over three nights from Tuesday, February 27. Tickets are £8 for adults, £4 under-18s and under fives are free. Budding speakers from three West Norfolk secondary schools came together to hone their communication and oracy skills at a one-day workshop.
