Staff and students at Meridian School were celebrating as the Class of 2023 achieved the best GCSE results for the past five years. The New Addington high school, which received a Good Ofsted rating in January 2023, saw its highest number of students receive top grades of 9 to 7, with many going on to undertake A Level and Level 3 qualifications at Sixth Form. There were celebrations all round at St Mary’s Catholic School in Newcastle today when students received some of the best exam results in the region. The Year 11 Class of 2023 enjoyed success across all subjects in their GCSE and vocational qualifications, with 80 per cent of students achieving at least a grade 4 in both English and Maths, 61 per cent achieving at least a grade 5 in both, and 27 per cent achieving the top grades of 7 or above in those subjects. Students at Sacred Heart were celebrating after bucking the national trend and achieving higher than average GCSE results. The school, which is a member of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust, saw its national benchmark attainment score rise to 8, while the proportion of students achieving the highest grades of 7, 8 and 9 increased to an impressive one in three. There was a real cause for celebration at Glyn School today as students collected their GCSE results. Despite interruptions to their studies due to the Covid pandemic, the Class of 2023 achieved solid results, winning praise from Jo Garrod, Head of School at Glyn, a member of the GLF Multi-Academies Trust. There was a lot to celebrate at de Stafford school today when an excellent set of GCSE results landed. The strength of the results saw the school, a member of GLF Schools, improve on key headline measures, with good progress in the number of students achieving strong passes in both English and Maths. Staff and students at Marshland High School have been celebrating record GCSE exam results again this year, with an impressive 65 per cent achieving a grade 9 to 4 in English and Maths. The rise comes despite the warning from exam regulator Ofqual that national GCSE results across England would be lower, due to a return to pre-2019 grading levels. Students and teachers were celebrating at St Clement’s High School, after top GCSE results increased this year. The school, which is a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, saw an increasing number of students receive grade 7 and above in English and Maths, while exam results overall remained at pre-pandemic levels. Following on from the recent success of its A Level students, Springwood High School in King's Lynn is celebrating another year of excellent GCSE results. The Year 11 Class of 2023 reported impressive grades all round, with 39 per cent achieving a 5 or higher in English and Maths and 11 per cent gaining a 7 or higher in those subjects – an increase of 5 per cent on 2019’s levels. There were celebrations at Oxted School today when the GCSE results were revealed.
