A senior Norfolk police officer outlined his career to a group of students at a West Norfolk high school during a recent visit.

The bond between children in Newcastle and its German counterpart was strengthened when teachers from two schools got together to celebrate a newly formed partnership. Anthony Kennedy, Deputy Headteacher at English Martyrs’ Catholic Primary, travelled to Gelsenkirchen, Germany, with colleagues Abi Madsen and Sarah Bridgewood to meet the team at Regenbogenschule, or ‘Rainbow School’. A Newcastle primary school which prides itself on its welcoming ethos has received an award in recognition of its inclusivity. St Columba’s in Wallsend has been named an official School of Sanctuary by City of Sanctuary UK – an organisation founded in 2004 to support refugees and asylum seekers in communities around the country. A West Norfolk charity celebrating 25 years of working with the community has launched a special book to mark the milestone, with contributions written by residents and supporters. West Norfolk Deaf Association’s Silver Stories From No8 is a collection of 32 stories from writers of all ages who were awarded a place in the book by author and editor Daisy Line. A West Norfolk school has been presented with a prestigious award after being recognised by a group of young people it helps. Heacham Junior School has received a Young Carer Friendly Tick in Education which highlights its commitment to working with the students who also have a caring role outside of school. Some of West Norfolk’s youngest constituents had the opportunity to question their MP when he paid a visit to their school. James Wild, who has been the Conservative Member of Parliament for North West Norfolk since 2019, toured Walpole Cross Keys Primary School, visiting the children in their classes and meeting staff members. Spending Christmas in a cramped rowing boat crossing the Atlantic with not much sleep might not sound like fun - but it did sound inspirational to a group of Wisbech students. Two intrepid rowers visited the Thomas Clarkson Academy to raise awareness of their charity 3,000-mile journey as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge which is due to start on December 23. Care work proved to be the perfect career choice for a Norfolk woman who has recently celebrated ten years with Extra Hands. Although she briefly tried her hand at labouring and working as a chef, Donna Eastaugh found her true calling when she took up care work, and has now clocked up 25 years in the industry – with over a decade at the Norfolk home-care provider. |
