Snowy weather didn’t spoil the fun at Merstham Primary when a new outside area for early years pupils was opened by the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead. Councillor Frank Kelly cut the ribbon during his visit and was promptly invited for a return trip to try out the equipment when the weather is a bit more spring-like.

Snowy weather didn’t spoil the fun at Merstham Primary when a new outside area for early years pupils was opened by the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead. There was much excitement when book-loving youngsters saw their school’s new library. St Robert’s Catholic First School, a member of the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust, unveiled the state-of-the art new facilities, which boast Chrome books and iPads for pupils’ use, as well as a wide range of books. Students at a West Norfolk secondary got creative when it came to celebrating this year’s World Book Day. Marshland High School, a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, set its students a variety of creative tasks in the two-week run up to the day, including making their own covers for their favourite books, and designing their own bookmarks. Captain Hook and William Shakespeare joined a Wisbech school for lessons as staff created fantastic costumes to mark World Book Day. More than 50 of the team at the Thomas Clarkson Academy, Wisbech, joined the fun and brought some life to literary characters of all genres. Hogwarts came to Hunstanton when a secondary school celebrated everything Potter at its second annual Literary Festival. Students at Smithdon High School, a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust, arrived at school to find the library had been transformed into Diagon Alley, with all the delights of Hogsmeade on offer, from butter beer to chocolate frogs. |
